Apethorpe Palace Northamptonshire
Client: English Heritage
Grade 1 listed Apethorpe Hall is a major country house dating back to the 15th century. Despite having some of the finest Jacobean interiors of the period, the house fell into neglect and decay from 1982, becoming one of the leading buildings at risk in the country.
English Heritage took ownership in 2004. Rodney Melville and Partners were appointed Lead Consultant and Architect to carry out a full schedule of condition including prioritisation of urgent works and to undertake emergency rescue work and an extensive scheme of external and internal repairs to the East and South Ranges, the Hall, Orangery, Stables and associated garden structures.
